Volunteers are needed to serve as companions to assist older adults and individuals with disabilities by providing escorted transportation to medical appointments, as well as completing errands and household tasks. Read to a visually-impaired adult or grocery shop for a homebound individual. Reminisce while looking through family photo albums or prepare a meal for someone recovering from surgery. Visit the same person a couple hours each week or on a biweekly basis.
If you have two hours per week or four hours per month, you can make a profound difference in someone's life. Volunteering with A Helping Hand is very rewarding and adaptable to your schedule. Volunteers receive training prior to working with clients in our charitable program.
Our goal is to improve the quality of life of older adults and individuals with disabilities and help them remain as independent as possible. To see how A Helping Hand is making a difference in the lives of valuable members of our community, please visit www.ahelpinghandnc.org.
If you feel you could be an asset to our volunteer team, please send us your preferred contact information through Volunteer Match. If you have questions about our volunteer program, please call us at (919) 328-8035. Volunteer opportunities are available in Orange, Durham, Chatham and Western Wake Counties.
All volunteers must go through a criminal background check, driver's license check and review of personal and/or professional references.
