Join other River Gorge Stewards volunteers and staff from FMR and Saint Paul Parks & Recreation as we expand the native plant/restored area at this significant riverfront park! Volunteers will help install native wetland plants to receive water from a large-scale native-prairie berm previously planted by FMR volunteers. This will help prevent erosion, build better soils and filter stormwater runoff pollution before it can reach the river. The plants will also provide much-needed urban wildlife habitat.
As always, staff will provide all guidance, tools, and gloves needed for a productive and fun event. Children accompanied by a parent or guardian are welcome.
Photos from a previous demonstration prairie tending are available on FMR's Flickr page.

Mission Statement
Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) engages people to protect, restore and enhance the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities region.
Description
Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to work with roughly 3,000 volunteers annually.
We keep volunteering simple, fun and satisfying -- there are no applications, and you can sign up for one event or several. We list events especially in need of volunteers here on VolunteerMatch.com, but maintain a full calendar of 60+ events a year at www.fmr.org/events.
Our project work includes conservation and restoration of natural areas and habitat, education on watershed protection issues, and organizing activities that connect the public to the Mississippi River.
