Become a Reading Buddy with San Antonio Youth Literacy for the Fall 2014 school year! Our Reading Buddies volunteer to read with 2nd grade students reading below grade level and who are at-risk of school failure due to poor reading skills. This commitment requires that volunteers commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 8 weeks. In that one hour, our Reading Buddies read with two 2nd grade students, one-on-one, for 30 minutes each. We are currently serving 77 elementary schools across San Antonio with the majority or our schools located inside Loop 410. We match our Reading Buddies with a school based on the schools’ and volunteer’s schedule. Volunteers will be reading with students during the school day, Monday-Friday 8am-3pm.
