Children's Home & Aid offers over 50 parent support groups each year. Parents Care & Share groups provide a safe place for parents to talk about their parenting challenges and find support and education. The groups have companion children's programs that provide fun activities for children of participants while they are in group, and a meal for both parents and children. A support group, a children's program, a nutritious meal: All this for free! We are looking for a Substitute Children's Program Specialist. These specialists would provide a safe, nurturing environment for children while their parents are meeting in support groups, and implement structured activities that enhance childrens self-esteem and their ability to resolve conflicts in a non-violent way. Duties include: -Consulting with parent leader, facilitator, and Parents Care & Share staff -Providing technical assistance, support and guidance to child care volunteers as needed -Providing linkage between children's group and parents -Assisting with the evaluation of the children's group on a regular and ongoing basis. -Providing care to participant children This volunteer position is a substitute for any of our DuPage County groups. Please see the list below for the locations, days and times. Subs are frequently needed. Addison-Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:30PM Downers Grove-Mondays, 6:00 - 8:00PM Naperville-Tuesdays, 6:00 - 8:00PM Villa Park-Wednesdays, 6:00 - 8:00PM West Chicago-Mondays, 6:00 - 8:00PM Volunteers will receive a $20 stipend per group.
