Volunteer Work Day: Tunnelville Cliffs - La Farge, WI

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: EarthShare

We will be doing some selective thinning around oak and hickory trees as well as some brush & invasive species removal.

The long-term health of oak-hickory forests are threatened by a lack of oak regeneration due to decades of poor forest management practices. Forests have been converting to a more mesophytic forest condition with a greater presence of boxelder, elm and maple. Selective thinning and brush removal encourages seed production by mature trees and the establishment of new oak seedlings. A high quality oak-hickory forest supports a wide variety of plant & wildlife species.

What to Bring : Work gloves, rugged footwear, long pants/sleeves, WATER, lunch/snack, chainsaw (if you have one)
