Seton Center, Inc. serves as a service site for financial literacy non-profit, Maryland CASH (Creating Assets, Wealth and Hope) Campaign's MyBudgetCoach program. Volunteers are needed to assist middle-to-low-income working families and individuals improve their ability to budget and make well-informed financial decisions for the period of one year.
Budget Coach responsibilities include:
Attend required MD CASH Campaign training (1 all-day training w/on-going support)
Meet/Talk with assigned client to cover budgeting techniques, financial management and goal attainment strategies
Use program’s online tools to show the client how to track: expenses in real-time, their budget, progress towards achieving important financial goals
Use program’s online tools to track the member’s progress in real-time and encourage members to stay on task and on track in between sessions
Report & be responsive to supervision of staff Relationship Manager for guidance & direction after sessions
Budget Coaches must possess the:
Understanding of and compassion for clients and their needs
Ability to maintain appropriate emotional and social boundaries
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with client and Seton Center information
Ability to follow detailed directions and report results accurately and in a timely manner
Ability to follow coaching guidelines, use open-ended questions, allowing client to drive the process
Understanding of basic math skills; accounting experience helpful but not required
Ability to understand and use a computer, the internet and MD CASH Campaign’s program on-line tools
Ability to be a team player and enjoy volunteering independently
Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills

Description
Seton Center, Inc. is a social service organization in northern Frederick County MD. We provide financial assistance for mortgage, rent, utility, clothing and medical expenses. We also offer the Seton Family Store (thrift shop), and case management, programs and services to guide and support client growth in the areas of life skills such as literacy, financial and health management.
We serve those living at the federal poverty AND/OR the ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) rate; those working for wages that do not support even the basic living expenses. We believe that each person is unique and should be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race, creed or financial status.
