The YWCA of San Gabriel Valley seeks an enthusiastic and self-motivated Communications and Photography Intern to join our Development team. An ideal internship for an artistic candidate seeking to build skills in writing for publications and accompanying photographs, we are looking for a creative individual with a passion for writing moving stories/copy and photography. Responsibilities Include: Draft short articles for the YWCA publications, social media, marketing and other communication materials Conduct interviews in order to gather story content Act as the main photographer for the YWCA Development Department, including photography of YWCA programs, events, meetings, etc. Edit, publish, and archive photographs Provide additional miscellaneous general administrative support within the department, as needed Qualifications Include: Impeccable grammar, punctuation and writing skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professional demeanor as agency representative, comfortable conducting one-on-one and group interviews with ability to relate to and hold in-depth conversations with all age groups Acute attention to detail Experience in or demonstrated passion for photography Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively Enjoys working on a project basis and does not need constant specific direction Ability to meet and exceed deadlines Must be an enthusiastic, hardworking team player with a sense of humor Benefits Include : A wonderful opportunity to expand skills in writing/journalism and developing marketing materials and photography Learning in a positive, flexible, supportive, and stimulating work place Letters of reference for future job opportunities and/or course credit Internship hours flexible and varied, depending upon writing assignment and/or deadlines Great for grad or college student This is an unpaid position. Founded in 1935, the YWCA San Gabriel Valley has been a long-standing community partner. We work at the individual and community levels to achieve our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit and an affiliate of the YWCA USA and a member of the World YWCA movement.

The YWCA SGV is committed to providing women, girls, seniors and their families with the information they need to manage the critical issues in their lives. We achieve this through our multi-lingual community education and service programs in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys.

The programs provided by the YWCA SGV include:

Services for Domestic Violence Victims: Shelter and support services so that adults and children can be safe, healthy, and lead violence-free lives. 24-Hour Helpline 626-967-0658

Teen Education Services:

1) Healthy Relationships Education Program for Teens to prevent teen dating violence and provide assistance for those already experiencing violence.

2) Respect for All Anti-Bullying Project that uses award-winning films and discussions to reduce prejudice and bullying.
