Are you interested in innovative approaches to health? Do you believe exercise is an important factor in staying healthy and safe? The "Stay Well At Home" program is looking for 10 facilitators willing to assist in this innovative four to six month program in association with the Falls Prevention Coalition. Get involved by helping seniors improve their overall health by lowering their risk for falls through exercise and other risk reduction strategies. Volunteer facilitators will attend two training sessions to learn the program content and presentation methods. The facilitator will then be matched with one or more recipients in the community. There will be 12 in home visits during the first two months of the study and weekly follow up phone calls over a period of 1-4 months. The facilitator will help the participant set goals for staying active, keeping the home safe, managing medications, identifying changes in vision and improving sleep quality. "Stay Well At Home" is a study being conducted by researchers at CSU, Fullerton, and is funded by the California Wellness Foundation. Nevada County is among the first to participate in this innovative program. Come be a part of it!

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community!
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
