WHAT TO EXPECT
Become a part of people in community, feeding the hungry! Breakfast serving individuals and groups must be willing to assist where needed throughout the final food preparation, serving, and clean-up process. Examples of duties include: arranging food on trays, rolling silverware in napkins, passing out trays/food in the meal line, and interacting with guests. At the end of the meal, volunteers are expected to stay for final clean up which includes wiping down tables and chairs and sweeping/mopping floors. This opportunity is suitable for groups sized 1-5

Description
The Gathering provides ten free meals each week at three sites to 100,000 of Milwaukee's hungry and homeless annually.
The Gathering collaborates with organizations whose missions are complementary to ours to provide on-site services:
Mental health
Legal assistance
Medical referrals
Supply distributions
Funding
The Gathering is a registered nonprofit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) agency.
The Gathering receives funding from a variety of sources including churches (12%), corporations and foundations (40%), government (4%), special events (7%), individuals (27%), United Way Donor's Choice & Hunger Relief Fund (8%), Other (2%). (FY 2008/2009)
