Choosing St. Croix Hospice as your service learning opportunity would mean: *Learning about multi-disciplinary teams, family dynamics, and the role of compassion, respect, dignity and empathy. *Visiting patients and families by offering emotional support through conversations, listening, handholding or even a quiet calm presence. *Customized activities like reading, walking, or helping patients attend activities in their facility. Bingo, music and Social Hour are always popular. *Individualized pampering and comfort like painting nails, games, puzzles, sports footage, music, life legacies and wishes. *Patient match closest to your school , commute or home. Opportunities across St. Cloud, Willmar, Elk River and Brainerd. *One hour a week commitment; flexibility with schedules. *Storytelling and scenario training (approximately 90 minutes) Volunteers need to be over 18 years old; pass a criminal background check and Mantoux screening (cost-free.) Certified pet therapy teams are needed (Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International or Therapy Dogs Incorporated.)
