Help make hospitals more hospitable! Ronald McDonald Family Room Volunteers at MD Anderson age 21 and older support patients and families in the Children's Cancer Hospital.
Volunteers help keep the RMH kitchen, living room, library, and bedrooms at MD Anderson tidy and stocked with supplies, check families in and out of the bedrooms, visit with parents, assist with other projects, and bake cookies. Their presence curates a culture of support and connection amongst families in the Pediatric Oncology unit.
RMH at MD Anderson Volunteers make a 6 month commitment. Volunteer opportunities are available from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. seven days a week. Shifts are scheduled in 3 hour time blocks.
- 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Houston's Ronald McDonald House offers a home away from home providing care, compassion and hope to families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Center member institutions.
Description
Ronald McDonald House Houston opened its doors in 1981 to offer a home away from home to the families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Center member institutions. Houston's RMH operates several locations that offer home-like environments to these seriously ill children and their families:
- 70 bedroom House on Holcombe Boulevard
- 20 bedroom House inside Texas Children's Hospital
- 14 bedroom House inside Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital
- 10 Family Rooms at Texas Children's Hospital
- 4 Family Rooms at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital
- 2 bedrooms and 1 Family Room at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
Each of these facilities serves a different population. The Holcombe House is generally home to families from outside Houston while the in-hospital facilities primarily serve families from the greater Houston area. At RMH Houston, the families find comfort, encouragement and support from volunteers, staff and other families, who share similar experiences, during an unimaginably difficult time in their lives.
Ronald McDonald House Houston is able to provide these services because of the generous gifts of time and financial support provided by individuals, companies, and foundations throughout the Houston community.
