This is a wonderful opportunity to be of assistance to citizens and the general public visiting our government center. Nevada County Information & General Services is looking for volunteers to assist as Lobby Greeters at the Rood Center in Nevada City: Job duties/description: •Support and man a lobby desk that will provide patrons with information, directions and a friendly face as they enter the Rood Center County building. •They may provide directions to specific departments at this location or other County locations. May direct people to the proper meeting rooms. Provide printerd informational materials. •Search on the County website for information. Show patrons how to search for information on the internet. •Volunteer Greeters provide customer service that is knowledgeable and courteous. •Volunteer Greeters acts as a principle point of reference and assistance to citizens/general public. •Volunteer Greeters should have a sincere desire to communicate effectively and provide assistance as needed. Volunteer Greeters should always act as ambassadors of Nevada County and are expected to speak positively Skills Required: •Ability to speak clearly, give directions. Ability to articulate with clear speaking voice • •Ability and enthusiasm for working with the public • Dependable, reliable and responsible • Works well with minimal supervision and structure • Ability to process information • Polite, poised, patient, friendly and even-tempered • At times, ability to deal with unpleasant or impolite participants and complaints • Ability to put people at ease •Light computer skills to browse the internet. •Sit or stand for several hours. Days needed: 5 days per week (split between several people) Time of day: approx 10-2pm Shift length: 1-4 hours per day
