Imagine a room full of happy, smiling children seated around a table eating a delicious, hot lunch. You can make that happen this summer at LCAC. While summer break is welcomed by adults and children alike, one lesser known fact is that kids right here in Lorton might do without breakfast or lunch during the summer. A hot lunch is prepared and delivered to LCAC each day as part of a program sponsored by Fairfax County and the USDA.
LCAC is looking for volunteers to commit to helping the Summer Lunch Team Leader set up, serve food, engage/interact with children, and clean up. The time commitment is about 2 hours between 11:45 and 1:45. It is so rewarding to be part of an opportunity that is meeting a most basic need - food.
If this has piqued your curiosity, for more information please contact Kathy Noone, LCAC's Director of Volunteers, at Kathy@LortonAction.org.
