Protect Minnesota's Wolves

Have you ever heard a wolf howl in the wilderness? We want to protect Minnesota's wolves for future generations and we need your help. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn, a love for the MN gray wolf and a desire to raise awareness of the population of gray wolves in MN. Volunteer with other wolf advocates and know you're making a difference for Minnesota's environment! Check us out at howlingforwolves.org for more information. We have groups specifically in the Twin Cities AND Duluth, but we encourage all Minnesotans to join and volunteer throughout our great state.

WE ALSO HAVE INTERNSHIPS for committed, responsible college students.

We've participated at many Twin Cities' events including the Minnesota State Fair, the Renaissance Festival, Twin Cities' Pride Festival, Grand Old Day, Midwest Mountaineering Expo, Walk for Animals, Earthfest, May Day, Twin Cities Pet Expo and others. If you want to learn more about how to get involved, email Lisa at volunteer@howlingforwolves.org or go to our website www.howlingforwolves.org for more information.

*Please note, WE DO NOT work with live wolves and are not affliated with any group that has live wolves.

About Howling for Wolves

Location:

P.O. Box 4099, Hopkins, MN 55343, US

Mission Statement

Howling for Wolves was created to be a voice for wild wolves. We aim to educate the public about our wolf population and let people know how they can take action to keep wild wolves in a self-sustaining existence. Our current efforts focus on the Minnesota Gray wolf. Minnesota is the only lower 48 state that has its original wolf population. In January 2012, after 40 years on the Endangered Species List, the Minnesota wolf was de-listed.

Description

Howling for Wolves is working to stop the recreational wolf hunting seasons in Minnesota. In the first wolf hunt in 2012, one in four Minnesota wolves was knowingly killed by hunting, trapping, and depredation measures.Minnesota law was supposed to protect wolves for five years from a recreational hunting season after wolves were removed from the Endangered Species list.

A recreational hunt does not serve the citizens of Minnesota and we need to take action to protect our wolves for future generations. We must motivate our lawmakers to act now to reinstate the five-year wait on wolf hunting and end the brutal practices of baiting, trapping, and snaring.

Volunteer oppportunities include attending events, rallies and becoming involved in the legislative process.
