Are you thinking of going into the health care field? Want to see what it's like working with patients in a hospital environment? Our unique training program offers the opportunity for students or young adults to gain some real world experience in a clinical environment. This position is also ideal for retired baby boomers who want a high level of patient interaction while volunteering.

Our Unit Assistant volunteers act as patient ambassadors on our in-patient floors. Their main responsibility is to conduct hourly rounding on patients while providing comfort measures and to assist staff with answering patient call lights. Additional duties may include transport and discharge of patients; socializing with patients; transporting specimens to the Lab; taking inventory and filling supplies, cleaning of equipment and messenger runs.

Time commitment required is a total of 128 hours, consisting either of one 4 hour shift per week for 8 months or two four hour shifts per week for 4 months.
