We are seeking Volunteer Leaders to supervise fun daytime trips & activities in the DC area for our Refugee Children this summer. There will be 8 all-day trips planned for this summer, volunteers can sign up for one specific day-trip or sign up for up to all 8 volunteering events!

Field Trip Volunteers Needed

We are in need of volunteers to chaperone and/or drive clients from the Northern Virginia area to different events throughout DC-VA. The following events are in need of volunteers.

-Fairfax County Field Day, Saturday August 30 2014

Description

The LSS/NCA Refugee & Immigrant Services program provides support and services including reception, resettlement and employment services for refugees, asylees and victims of human trafficking.

Our current activities include:

Reception and Placement: Currently, we are welcoming refugees from: Burma, Liberia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Early Self-Sufficiency Program: Combines private donations with federal matching funds to provide an alternative to welfare for new arrivals. The goal is to find employment for the refugee as soon as possible.
