America for Animals is a start-up nonprofit organization headquartered in California. We are a new type of animal welfare organization - our goal is to give everyone the power to help animals. We do this by developing modern tools for advocacy, such as state-of-the-art web and mobile applications that make it easy and fun to help animals. Our apps help people find humane places to eat, meet like-minded advocates, campaign to end inhumane practices, and take other simple actions that make the world kinder for our animal friends.

AFA is looking for a volunteer Salesforce Administrator to help configure and optimize our information database (Salesforce Non-Profit Edition) and the related data management processes.

Specifically, this position would allow you to practice the following skills:

* Managing and maintaining our Salesforce database of contacts (volunteers, subscribers, donors...)
* Configuring and optimizing Salesforce settings for our needs (user types, workflow, functionality, reports...)
* Creating standard operating procedures and best practices for using Salesforce.
* Developing solutions for volunteer management, subscriber management and donor management.
* Teaching others in our organization how to integrate Salesforce into their roles.

Requirements:

* Extensive experience with Salesforce, preferably the Non-Profit Edition and preferably as a technical/system user.
* Experience with Apex and Visual Force.

* Completed college or master’s degree and/or experience in system related fields.

* Problem-solving skills.

* Excellent work ethic, incl. ability to manage workload and responsiveness to emails.

* Team-player attitude and interest in helping animals.
* Availability of 5 hours per week, for 3 months minimum (more welcome!)

* Previous non-profit volunteering experience preferred (though not required.)
