RefugeeOne is seeking an intern to assist the housing department with various activities both in and out of the office. The intern will work with the Housing Program Assistant to set up apartments for refugee families and provide clients with basic housing-related services upon their arrival. Clients are from various countries including Bhutan, Burma, Iraq, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, among others.
Duties of the intern will primarily consist of:
- Helping with apartment set-up, including moving furniture, meeting deliveries, and shopping for household goods and groceries
- Assisting clients with signing up for, transferring, and ending utility service
- Assisting with client applications for available rental assistance programs
- Keeping accurate records of services provided to clients
- Occasional filing and other administrative duties
Interested candidates must be able to relate to individuals from various backgrounds, take initiative to see a project through from start to finish, and be able to lift furniture (up to 50 pounds) and other items needed for apartment set up, and be able to climb stairs. We're looking for an intern who can start as soon as possible.
