South Bronx United is seeking coaches that not only want to share the joy of playing the sport but also want to reinforce the values that sport helps develop (teamwork, discipline, respect, etc) for its after school soccer program. SBU, a sports based youth development organization, runs after school practices for boys and girls ages 6-14, 3 days a week. Coaches work with one age group of 10-20 youth for 2 hours at least one day a week.
Dates: Spring:mid March-June; Fall: September - mid November
Location: Mullaly Park (next to Yankee Stadium), 165th and Jerome, Bronx NY 10452
Times: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4pm -6pm. Coaches need only to commit to one specific day.
Essential Position Functions
- Positively encourage and teach children during lessons and games
- Support our philosophy of (1) Fun Soccer, (2) Everyone Plays/Equal playing time, (3) Balanced Teams, (4) Positive Coaching Sportsmanship, (5) Player Development through small-sided games.
- Communicate with other coaches, players, and parents to promote a positive and safe environment and track player attendance.
- Help maintain a safe and structured environment for all children.
Training/Support:We will provide coaches with orientation materials, coach's training, and a coaching manual. A formal orientation/coach training wil be held prior to each season.Coaches will be assigned to age groups (age 4-19) based on experience, availability, and preference.

South Bronx United is a youth development organization dedicated on serving the South Bronx through education, mentoring, and soccer programs. Our goal is use the sport and the strength of mentoring to help boys and girls, ages 4-19, develop as leaders and scholars.
