Newhouse is proud to be a part of the 2014 Midwest Balloon Festival!

We are currently looking for volunteers to supervise inflatables, pass out wristbands and serve as greeters.

Bouncy House Shifts

Friday, August 8th: 3:30pm to 7:00 pm

Greeter/Wristband Shifts

Friday, August 8: 4-6:30pm
Saturday, August 9: 9:30-12:30pm, 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, 3:30-6:30pm
Sunday, August 10: 5:30-8:30am, 8:30-11:30am, 11:30-3pm

*All volunteers must be 16 years or older. Volunteers will receive a complimentary pass to be used on the day of their volunteer shift, a free shift meal, and afree parking.

Mission Statement

The mission of NEWHOUSE is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing the tools that allow women to make positive choices and lead self-sufficient lives.

Description

Newhouse provides access, admittance and residence in temporary shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children 24-hours a day, every day of the year. Newhouse takes a comprehensive approach in meeting the needs of the women and children who turn to Newhouse for emergency shelter and for relief from the crushing distress of domestic violence.

Newhouse has served Kansas City's urban core for 42 years. In 2012, Newhouse provided 24,769 bednights to 792 residents (511 women and 281 children). Newhouse answered 9,248 emergency hotline calls and served 661 victims in the Municipal Domestic Violence Court system.
