ORGANIZATION: Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz

  • 3 people are interested

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz Teen Room has upwards of 40 teens a day during the summer. We are looking for volunteers to support our Teen Director so she can offer more programs and activities for this diverse group.

She needs someone at least 4 days a week for 2 hours a day, hopefully around 1:00-3:00pm but that's flexible. (The Teen Room itself is open 12-6, M-F). Ideally, sometimes the volunteer would take the teens who do not want to participate in the scheduled activity or program to the park or the gym, or simply engage them in another activity while the scheduled program is being run for the other group of teens.

Our Teen Director is willing to be very flexible on the volunteer's availability. And this would absolutely count as community service that the volunteer could put on their resume. And, if the time comes, she can write a glowing letter of recommendation for good volunteers.

Teens are a complicated age group. And as people, they are worth so much more than most give them credit for. So her main criteria for a volunteer for this program is that the volunteer would be able to treat the teens with the respect, patience, compassion and assertiveness that they so deeply deserve.
