Adult Learning Faciitators are part of a learning support team comprised of volunteers and council staff. All Facilitators are trained and suppported by professionals that understand adult learning and volunteerism.
Volunteer Facilitators are asked to convey a positive, friendly and competent image that puts volunteers at ease and represents the high ideals of Girl Scouts of Maine.
Learning Facilitators introduce new troop leaders to the Girl Scout Program and important policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. For many new leaders this traning is their first experience with Girl Scouts of Maine and therefore it is a very important that it be positive.
Facilitators receive the training they need to work with large and small groups; have a clear understanding of the nature and scope of their role; will be mentored by a peer and will receive ongoing support from council staff.
In addition to trainings offered at the two service centers - South Portland and Bangor - trainings are offered at a variety of locations throughout the state. Volunteers chose where they wish to volunteer.

Mission Statement
There's greatness in every girl. Girl Scouts helps her find it!
Description
At 107 years old, Girl Scouts has never been more relevant for girls and the adults who care about them. Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 2.5 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
