This volunteer is open to volunteers on both the islands of O'ahu and Hawai'i (Big Island)

Aloha,

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers and solely supported by public donations. Our agency provides services to the homeless (unsheltered) children across the islands. Our mission is to enhance the lives of homeless keiki by providing year round services and inter-active solutions to help them escape the cycle of poverty.

Most people do not understand the extreme poverty nor the numbers of homeless children on our islands. The statistics are unimaginable and a true reality of what these precious children face on a daily basis. While 1 of 5 children in the general population of Hawai'i goes without a meal, 100% of our children will go without a meal for days. Our children also face a greater fact of life...not being educated enough to ever succeed in life. Most of our children (if they graduate at all) will not have a 3rd grade reading level. These children face extreme poverty and lack of any proper social or life skills to even get a start on a better life.

Our dedicated volunteers spend the year helping to change that!! We can do it, but need the support of the community. Our award-winning teen mentoring summer camp, and other educational supportive services DO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!

We have decided this year to try a new way of raising awareness and needed funds in the community. We need YOUR HELP to make these events a success. We are planning a few events per year on both islands, and hoping to have a wonderful turn out and support from the community.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

Please Note: Volunteers will be provided with more details and information for their choice of opportunities, and once committed to a position will be provided with the proper materials to succeed

  • VENUE COORDINATOR: This positon would require the volunteer to help secure a venue for one or more of our events. This can be done via email, phone, etc. We are seeking venues island-wide on O'ahu and North, West and East on Hawai'i (Big Island)
  • PRIZE/AWARD COORDINATOR: This position would require the volunteer to help secure prizes and awards ranging from the grand prize to the door prizes. We will need a minimum of 10 prizes/awards, and 5 door prizes
  • SILENT AUCTION COORDINATOR: This position is perfect for someone who likes to be social and make lots of contacts to secure silent auction items. Items can be in physical form or a product, or a gift certificate of a service, etc. If this volunteer also wishes to attend the program and manage the silent auction, that is fine, but not necessary.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA/ADVERTISING/MARKETING: Great opportunity with a variety of social marketing avenues, NOT JUST YOUR OWN FACEBOOK! This position is a very serious and vital part to the overall success, so we need someone who enjoys researching new avenues of advertising, and will like to manage and change listings as needed.
  • CORPORATE DONORS/SPONSORS: This opportunity would be perfect for the volunteer who enjoys working with and contacting corporate level management to secure major donations or corporate sponsorships. One way this is very successful is to have a local office sponsor a table as employee incentives, etc. For example: MOBI PCS corporate purchased a table and gave the seats away to employees to represent at the event.

We do have some dates coming up, and do not have the venue, prizes, etc, so would love to have volunteers asap.

On O'ahu our event is scheduled for October 25th(can be anywhere)

On Hawai'i, our events are scheduled for Sept. 7th on the East side and Sept. 27th in Waikoloa

Mahalo again for your time and concern towards our homeless keiki

Description

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers to enhance the lives of children living in poverty situations on the islands of Hawai'i. Our public supported charity works year round to provide necessities to children living in substandard housing situations, such as tents on the waters edge, abandon vehicles, and make-shift structures hidden in the bushes and hills.

Our agency provides children with holiday parties, meals and services for all the major holidays including Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Other monthly services include providing emergency support, hygiene, food, clothing and outreach to the children living in homeless situations on 3 of the islands of Hawai'i, the Big Island (Hawai'i), Mau'i and O'ahu.

Project Hawai'i also provides educational and nutritional programs that include after school reading and tutoring programs and our summer camp activities. Children will also receive full back to school support from new backpacks filled with supplies, new outfits, and shoes. We also provide other educational needs throughout the year.

Project Hawai'i Summer Camp has ran for 15 years and won several dozen awards in nutrition and educational support. This program is our largest endevor and evolves year after to year to include even more learning opportunities to our keiki.
