Get ready to help Georgia's Teachers and students!
The Kids In Need Program's mission is to provide school learning supplies for students whose academic success is threatened by poverty. Twice a semester, teachers who teach in low income areas are able to shop in the Kids in Need store free of charge. During their shopping trip, they can load their buggies up with any and every school supply imaginable: from paper and pen to glue sticks to calculators and book bags.
Volunteers act as shopping assistants, and help to keep the busy store running. Tasks include giving teachers instructions on shopping rules, helping to stock/restock the store, assisting teachers with loading supplies into their vehicles, and acting as that friendly personal shopper. This opportunity is great for individuals or small groups!
Contact: stephen.holland@acfb.org for further information.
We are recruiting for evening shifts which occur on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-12 and 1-4.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to fight hunger by engaging, educating and empowering our community. While our core work is food distribution, our efforts extend far beyond that. Our mission is lived out every day by engaging, educating and empowering both people in need and those who want to help. From volunteering your time to assisting people in finding economic security, the Food Bank covers a wide range of opportunities for people to learn and get involved.
Description
We utilize more than 1,700 volunteers a month, over 150 staff members, a large fleet of trucks and the largest food banking facility in the United States to procure and distribute food and grocery items received from hundreds of donors. Our donors include manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, brokers, restaurants, food drives, farmers and individuals. The product is easily accessed by our partner agencies. They place their orders online and arrange for pick up or delivery. Once the food arrives at the agency, it is provided to families and individuals in need.
