The Beacon Hospice approach to care creates an environment of hope, comfort, and dignity for both hospice patients and their families. Volunteers go through an 8 hour training course covering hospice medical aspects, palliative care, family and cultural dynamics, communication, spiritual dimensions, and grief and loss. Activities with patients may include reading, sitting vigil, creating a Chart-A-Life, or helping with Veteran ceremonies. Your time and strength is the best gift to someone at this stage of their lives. Our travel range is from Westford, Billerica, Chelmsford, Lowell, North Andover, Andover, Lawrence, Methuen, Haverhill, Merrimac, Amesbury, Newburyport, and Salisbury. Group trainings and 1-on-1 5 hour training is available. Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer! I hope to meet with you soon.
