The American Diabetes Association is a not for profit organization with section 501 (C) 3 status for tax purposes. Our mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Last year, Tour de Cure had over 1300 cyclists, over 300 volunteers, and raised over to $800,000. The participants are active leaders and cyclists in the DC Metro professional community who are passionate about finding a cure for diabetes.

With that said, nearly 29 million adults and children have diabetes. It is estimated, by the CDC, that 1 in 3 children born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime if trends continue. Diabetes- related diseases kill more people each year than breast cancer and AIDS combined. Type 1 diabetes cannot be prevented but, type 2 can often be delayed or prevented by making healthy lifestyle choices. Please join us in our efforts to Stop Diabetes.
