Youth Leadership Program with Mexico: Call for Host Families
A student delegation of 14-16 teenagers ages 15-17, from Mexico will be in the triangle area for a youth leadership conference, July 22nd through August 2nd. The conference is under the auspices of the US Department of State, World Learning, & International Focus.
The program’s objective is to promote mutual understanding between people of the US and Mexico by promoting interaction with peers and families, service learning activities at universities and other facilities, and the creation of a service project to implement upon returning to Mexico. They will also participate in cultural outings, social get togethers and recreational activities. Thus we hope to create a new generation of leaders.
The students represent the best and brightest youth of Mexico. Before coming to North Carolina, they will be at the World Learning Center in Brattleboro, Vermont.
We are in need of families to host our guests ( 2- 4/ household) for part of( 7 days) or the duration of their visit. Host families would be required to provide breakfast and dinner daily, a place to sleep, and weekday transportation to and from a designated location. Host families are free to entertain their guests as they please for the weekend(s) of their visit.

Description
International Focus supports multiculturalism and international exchange through the International Visitors' Leadership Programs, the Community Connections Programs, and the Open World Programs. International Focus also promotes diversity via its newsletters, collaborations, workshops, resources, and its flagship event, the International Festival of Raleigh, considered to be a key component of the Triangle’s cultural and artistic offerings. The event showcases music, dance, cuisine, art, and cultural education from 55 diverse cultures, and welcomes 30,000 visitors annually.
We continue to welcome new ethnic communities to our network as the Triangle’s population expands; and we are honored to be the area’s pivotal connector for cross-cultural understanding and respect.
