Fostering at RCHS!

RANCHO COASTAL HUMANE SOCIETY IS LOOKING FOR ANIMAL FOSTERS!

BREAKFAST FOSTER MEETING: JUNE 21ST 10 AM- BAGELS AND COFFEE!
If you think fostering might be in your future or you just want to find out more about our Foster Program, please join us on June 21st at 10 AM in the RCHS Education Center for an informational get-together about fostering at RCHS.
Please RSVP by replying to this email, or calling 760-753-6413, ext 109.

RCHS fosters play a huge role in our effort to keep the animals happy, healthy and adoptable. Whether you are able to provide a loving, nurturing home to a shelter animal with special needs, or to an adoptable dog for off-site events, we would love to hear from you!
FOSTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
1. Foster care for the RCHS shelter animals. This can be kittens or puppies (who are too young to go up for adoption), animals coming out of homes where domestic violence was present, animals recovering from surgery, and animals who need special care.
2. Dogs that will go to off-site adoption events. Our hope is to have a population of dogs that will live in foster homes (thereby freeing up space at the shelter to bring in more dogs and save more lives).
We want to have a bigger role in the community and want to adopt more dogs into forever, loving homes. When we take animals to an event, we end up depleting the amount of animals that can be seen at our shelter. That's where you come in! If we have foster homes to house adoptable dogs, we can bring them to off-site community events and continue to adopt dogs out of the shelter.

When you foster an animal, you can deduct the cost of food, medicine, veterinary bills, crates, garbage bags, etc., as long as you are not reimbursed for them, your expenses total over $250 for the year, and the items and services are associated exclusively with fostering. Even a portion of your utilities can be considered deductible expenses as long as a specific area of your home is only used for the care of animals and nothing else.
If you foster for RCHS and your expenses total over $250 for the year, you can deduct those expenses. Make sure to save any and all receipts. You will also need a letter from RCHS that confirms your volunteer or foster status, and confirms the amount you are claiming.
