Volunteers assist with the overall care of our smaller animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, etc.) by providing a clean and enriching environment during their stay at Dane County Humane Society’s Mounds Satellite Adoption Center in Fitchburg.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide socialization for critters (includes rabbits, rats, gerbils, hamsters and more)
- Help keep adoption center clean and orderly
- Communicate with staff and fellow volunteers regarding animals’ medical & behavioral health
- Direct visitors to adoption counselors for adoption inquiries
- Youth and parent teams eligible to volunteer
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently required
- Good animal handling skills, with a good understanding of responsible pet care
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Friendly and positive attitude
- Ability to squat, lift, and bend
- Commit to a weekly 2-hours shift for a minimum commitment of six months
- Minimum age to volunteer is 8 with a parent, or 18 if solo.
