Mission Statement
The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization supported entirely by donations. We are dedicated to the shelter, protection, and care of homeless cats, especially those that are often not considered adoptable by other organizations. We are both an adoption facility and long-term sanctuary for those felines who are "adoption-challenged," including felines who are FIV or FeLV-positive, and other types of chronic health issues. All of our kitties roam free within 8,000 sq ft of outdoor/indoor living space.
Description
One of the best ways to help the Hermitage Cat Shelter is through volunteering your time. Volunteers take on a variety of tasks at the Hermitage. These tasks might include administrative help, feeding and socializing with cats, cleaning bowls, maintenance or yard work.
All volunteers are required to attend a two hour orientation with our Volunteer Coordinator. As a volunteer, we expect you to care about and have compassion for the many felines in need. Volunteers should be 16 years of age, or if under 16, be accompanied by a parent or guardian, children under 13 years of age cannot become volunteers with the Hermitage, but we do have a variety of children focused programs that we offer, please visit our website for more information www.hermitagecatshleter.org. Orientations are held weekly. Community service volunteers are welcomed as well, so long as they pass our background check.
It's important that volunteers make a commitment to what they do here at the shelter. We look for volunteers who are engaged in what they do, have a positive attitude, are willing to take direction and have a dedication to service. It's also important to work well with the public as well as the Hermitage Team.
To be a Hermitage volunteer, contact our volunteer coordinator Karina Levine at (520) 571-7839 or fill out the volunteer application on our website; https://hermitagecatshelter.org/volunteer/.
