The Butterfly House directs the Missouri Butterfly Monitoring Network which monitors nature areas throughout Missouri. We are reliant on volunteers to help monitor these areas.
You will monitor a designated trail for butterflies using the Missouri Butterfly Monitoring guidelines. This assignment is outdoors, walking nature trails with varying grades and terrain. You will need walking shoes and access to a computer. Having a "smart" phone is helpful.
This is a seasonal opportunity, May through September. We ask for a minimum commitment of two hours per month; you can monitor the trail in the morning or afternoon on a day that works best with your schedule.
Knowledge of native butterfly species is a plus, but training on butterfly identification and procedures for the monitoring process will be provided.
