House volunteers are the backbone of the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. As a house volunteer, you will greet and interact with our families and visitors. Providing conversation, compassion, and understanding is an essential part of being a house volunteer. You will help with daily operations such as answering the telephone, handling donation deliveries and sending/receiving faxes. A house volunteer assists with housekeeping to assure our House is clean and welcoming to our many guests, children and families. House volunteers are responsible for checking families in and out if no staff member is available. House volunteers are required to be cleared through Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Human Resources and obtain an ID badge from them..

Reduce the stress of children in treatment and their families.
Ease family’s worries about medical care, finances and family life.
Generate community understanding of and support for the unique needs of critically ill children and their families.
Keep most families steps away from their child while those being treated at other area hospitals are just a short drive away
