Special Olympics Santa Barbara is seeking volunteer coaches for the Fall Sports Season! Sports offered include bowling, floor hockey, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Volunteer coaches work together to lead athletes through weekly practices, held for 1-2 hours, with some travel to competitions occurring on weekends. We are specifically looking for bowling and tennis coaches and a Head Volleyball Coach. This is a great opportunity for sports lovers to make a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities!
Anyone age 14+ interested in learning more about becoming a coach with Special Olympics is welcome to attend the Fall Coach meeting Wednesday, August 5th at the Balboa Building Auditorium from 5:45 pm to 7 pm. The Balboa Building is located in the Paseo Nuevo shopping mall at State St. and De La Guerra.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
The Santa Barbara Special Olympics is a non-profit organization that allows people with developmental disabilites within the Santa Barbara community to participate in year-round athletic competition. We offer several sports that our athletes can participate in free of charge.
