Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Newsletter Assistantswill work with Lansing Roots staff to develop a format, articles, recipes, and other elements of our subscriber newsletter. The Lansing Roots Program is a family farmer education initiative with a farm in Mason. Our marketing collaborative serves a number of small local produce growers with a CSA that allows subscribers to purchase a weekly share of the harvest. Duties are varied and will include: researching CSA newsletters, design layout, writing of various types, and obtaining permission to use materials from outside sources.
Lansing Roots, a new program under the Greater Lansing Food Bank, is designed to help limited resource and/or historically under-served individuals from the greater Lansing area begin successful market gardening and farming enterprises through an incubator farm setting
This is an INTERNSHIP position with the GLFB Lansing Roots Farm. Interns would be expected to volunteer 5-15 hours per week depending on their schedule. Some work would be required in our office but some could also be done remotely.

Mission Statement
Greater Lansing Food Bank Mission: Partner to alleviate hunger one meal at a time, to create a future where everyone has access to nourishing food.
Description
The Greater Lansing Food Bank is a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to individuals and families in need in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Gratiot, Shiawassee, Isabella and Clare counties. Food is distributed through an extensive network of food pantries and community kitchens located throughout the region. The Food Bank annually serves tens of thousands of people, many of them seniors and children. Our recipients also include the "working poor," those individuals who are employed but don’t earn enough to meet housing, health, transportation and food needs.
Our ability to feed families and individuals through pantries and community kitchens is directly related to the generosity of the citizens in the community. We obtain donations through the annual Envelope Campaign, Empty Bowls Lunch and Dinner, Empty Plate Dinner and Auction and through contributions provided throughout the year by individuals and businesses. We also receive donations of food through food drives sponsored by businesses, organizations, churches and individuals.
