This campaign kicks off on Monday March 16 th, 2015 and will conclude on Tuesday June 23 rd, 2015.
The focus of this campaign is to address the overwhelming need for male mentors in our community.

The Vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County is that all children achieve success in life.

The Mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County is a part of the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 7 through 18. As the nation’s leader in quality one-on-one youth mentoring, Big Brothers Big Sisters strives to provide children throughout the community with programs that promote social, emotional, and educational success. Through our efforts we are developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

We currently have a disproportionate number of boys waiting to be matched with a Big Brother. During this campaign we hope to educate and engage more men of our community about the benefits of becoming a mentor to a Little Brother who wants/needs one.

Big Brothers Big Sisters "100 MENtors in 100 Days" campaign is seeking opportunities for offering a wide array of community/business speaking opportunities, one-on-one meetings, mix-n-mingles, and media promotion now through June 23 rd. For more information regarding this effort, or to inquire about becoming a mentor, please contact Haley Decker at 734-975-0933 or haley.decker@bbbswashtenaw.org.

Mission Statement

Our VISION is to help all youth achieve their full potential. Our MISSION is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan is a nonprofit organization that provides one-to-one mentoring relationships to children in need. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan matches adult volunteers (Bigs) with children (Littles) between the ages of 8 - 18. We cover the four county region in Southeast Michigan (Washtenaw, Oakland, Macomb and Wayne), and provide additional programming and services to families and the community!

With the help of our Bigs, community sponsors, and generous corporate and individual donors, we are able to change the lives of young people in our region. We know that when youth are surrounded by consistent, caring adults in safe, developmental relationships, we can help create sparks to tap into those dreams, break down walls and build up confidence to explore how to reach for their goals and provide the support and encouragement that helps them to learn and grow. BBBS provides professional staff that recruit, enroll, match and support youth, volunteers and families to create and support developmental relationships. We believe that relationships are most meaningful when they are full of Empathy, Genuineness, and Unconditional Positive Regard.
