Volunteers are needed at O'Hare Airport to provide information and support for travelers. Volunteers are positioned throughout O’Hare Airport, where they offer help to passengers in need of information or assistance. Volunteers also may occasionally leave their station to provide protective travel services to vulnerable or at-risk passengers who need guidance, support, or advocacy as they move through the airport. We ask that volunteers are able to volunteer a minimum of two shifts per month. Shifts are Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am - 2:30pm and from 2:30-7PM. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, must be able to pass a background check and must be legal to work in the United States. Travelersaidchicago.org

Mission Statement
Travelers Aid Chicago provides passenger information, resources and referrals, crisis intervention and protective travel services to passengers traveling through Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. Since 1851, Travelers Aid has worked around the world to help passengers in crisis. At O’Hare, we help vulnerable travelers who need guidance and support during their trip, helping them create a safe, viable plan to arrive at their destination.
Description
Travelers Aid volunteers staff the 9 information desks in O’Hare’s domestic and international terminals and, each year, assist over 900,000 passengers, providing information about both the airport and the Chicago area. Protective Travel Services (PTS) are provided to vulnerable or at-risk travelers who need guidance, support or advocacy as they travel through O’Hare, including: refugees, repatriates, passengers with special needs, youth who have run away and/or are returning home, recipients of humanitarian aid, Military Severely Injured passengers, passengers with developmental delays, and others. Crisis Intervention services work with travelers in crisis to create a safe, viable plan. These persons are often novice/inexperienced travelers, travelers experiencing traumas, weather delays or flight cancellations, passengers experiencing extreme stress or anxiety, and persons who lack resources.
