Purpose:
To document the NHQ and chapter Pillowcase Project activities. Accomplished by researching, cataloging, and creating print, video, and social media items on The Pillowcase Project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research media sources for print, video, photography, and social media items on the Red Cross implementation of The Pillowcase Project in NHQ and chapters across the country.
  • Create and maintain cataloging systems for easy gathering and retrieval of good stories, photos, and videos, etc.
  • Proactively work with chapter's project staff to collect good stories, photos and documents and create good stories.
  • Create topic specific stories related to The Pillowcase Project.
  • Find and catalog stories that support research on youth and preparedness
  • Create 2-3 short videos from existing materials for "marketing" videos for volunteer recruitment, leadership reports, presentations.
  • Coordinate with internal Red Cross NHQ offices (Communication, Marketing, etc.) to ensure products meet the NHQ standards
  • Create articles, updates, etc. for internal and external Red Cross engines (web, Exchange, etc.)
  • Catalog and create a Pillowcase Project photo library (consistent with the NHQ protocols).
Qualifications:
  • Communication and marketing degree/experience
  • Experience with photography/videography and social media
  • Excellent organization and writing skills
  • Experience with Microsoft office and ability to create cataloging systems in Excel or on other data tools.  
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing/multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate with field staff.

Time Commitment: minimum of 10 hours per week; max of 30 hours per week. Work can eventually be performed remotely, but orientation, start up and some assignments require onsite presence.

Length of Appointment: Short term: 3 months; Long term 18 months.

These units are responsible for the direct service to the community including disaster response and preparedness, messaging to Armed Forces military and their families, collecting and delivering blood products, teaching health and safety skills and helping reunite families through our international services.
