Mission Statement

Bringing the Joy of Dance to Everyone!

PBDT’s founder Jamie Hammond believes that the joy, power, beauty and vitality of dance belongs to all people. She knows, as a performer, choreographer and teacher for over 30 years, that dance can transform lives for the better. PBDT’s vision is to elevate lives through greater exposure to worldclass contemporary ballet performances, integrating all the arts, and free professional arts instruction for underprivigled students.

We make dance and the arts accessible to all by:

  • presenting concerts in venues and spaces in low income areas, open to all everyone, regardless of their ability to pay for admission and
  • offering high quality classes in visual art, dance, music and theater to students ages 5-18, irrespective of their ability to pay for classes and supplies.

Description

After being the Resident Dance Company for the Los Angeles Harbor Regional Boys and Girls Club for 2 years, we are starting our own school program low income students living in Long Beach CA. We will offer free dance classes to students.

We also have the only all male dance company Southern California. Our dances are based on collaboartions with visual artists, musicians and film makers and feature strong, athletic male dancing. We create visually stunning contemporary dances with a political and social consciousness.
