Our volunteers provide assistance to those in the community who are dealing with the challenges of a life-limiting or terminal illness. They are trained to listen to patients and support the families in patient’s homes, assisted-living facilities, or nursing homes. Volunteers in hospice find it personally gratifying, intellectually stimulating and emotionally meaningful to assist those in need at a critical point in their lives. Many of these volunteers were introduced to hospice through the death of a loved one and understand firsthand the value of hospice care. Our volunteers consistently report that helping the terminally ill through hospice is not about dying but about living.

When the doctor, patient and family decide that curative treatment is no longer appropriate, Oakhurst Hospice provides home hospice services wherever home is -whether a retirement home, skilled nursing facility, a friend or family member's home, or your house. Our hospice services allow patients to make the most of each day, surrounded by family and friends in a familiar, comfortable environment.
