The Skills in Computers and Literacy for Employment (SCALE) program provides one-to-one tutoring for adults with low literacy skills. (This is not an ESL program.) Each tutor helps their assigned learner build writing, literacy, computer literacy and employability skills. No experience needed; training is provided to all tutors. Weekly customized lesson plans are provided for each tutor/learner pair by the class Intern. We are looking for tutors for our fall semester, which runs September 9-December 18. Available sessions:
- Wednesday mornings, 10:00am-12:00pm at Goodman South Library (2222 S. Park St.)
Requirements: We require all volunteers to be reliable, responsible, mature, friendly, and patient. Consistent attendance is required: you must attend your "class" every week (no more than 2 absences) during the duration of this class. All new tutors must schedule and attend an orientation and training before starting.
Both Orientation and Training will be held at Literacy Network (1118 S. Park Street).
