Washington Healthcare Access Alliance is seeking new trustees to help guide our organization into its next phase of operations. We are a tiny nonprofit that expands access to healthcare for patients left out of the current system by working with safety net partners. Our focus is on free and charitable clinics.

Across Washington, there are over 100 free clinics. These are nonprofit, non-governmentally funded, grassroots entities that provide a wide range of healthcare services. Most are primarily staffed by volunteers.

Our programming to support the clinics includes technical assistance, networking, education and advocacy. Although many people now have health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, the need for free and charitable care is still huge. We are looking to expand organizational capacity and develop a legislative agenda to address healthcare access in a more significant way.

We need passionate, excited trustees who are based in Washington State, and can devote up to two hours per week to board activities. New trustees should be comfortable representing the organization and helping open doors to new partnerships and funding opportunities. We need broad, creative thinkers and engaged activists.

Board meetings are held monthly via teleconference, with two in-person meetings per year - one in the spring, and one at our annual Washington Free and Charitable Care Conference in September. Board service is a three year commitment. Our fiscal year runs October through September. New trustees will be voted in September 2016.
