Being a proud dad of a five year old son named Huub, who suffers from Angelman Syndrome, a severe neurological disorder, I visited the lab of a scientist at UNC in February 2014. By using mice, the lab members are working towards understanding Angelman syndrome and developing a therapeutic to better the lives of patients.

What I saw was true dedication, but also a lot of human-intensive labor. Especially the analysis of research data takes a lot of time and energy. It's not that complicated, it's just a lot of data. That can be changed.

By creating a new advanced cloud services platform that allows to analyse data automatically, we can speed up the research and develop therapeutics for numerous diseases much faster. This concept was shared among several labs throughout the world, and everybody wants to use it as soon as possible.

So, what we need are some volunteers to help set this up. We need information analysts, data analysists, visual/graphics designers, web developers (asp.net/mvc and python) and a copy writer. If you know tools like ImageJ, CellProfiler or FiJi, that would be excellent. Together we can make this happen and change lives!
