With the help of several community partners in the Newport, Oregon community Shangri-La is operating a Donation Center in Newport for disadvantaged individuals and families to fulfill their household and personal care item needs.

The Donation Center Retreivers are the movers and shakers of this operation! If you have a personal, insured vehicle, a clean driving record, are organized, professional, motivated and care about helping members of your community, we want to meet you.

Donation Center Retrievers must have:

1. a valid Oregon driver’s license
2. a personal cell phone that they would be willing to use during their volunteer service
3. an insured personal vehicle which can be used to haul donations

Volunteers must successfully complete/provide:

1. a criminal history check
2. a driving record check
3. proof of current automotive insurance

DUTIES:

1. Use your personal vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver donations from a variety of residential and commercial locations.
2. Attend and complete all necessary trainings and orientations prior to registering for shifts.
3. Sign-up for donation center shifts using the online sign-up system.
4. Arrive on-time to your scheduled donation center shifts. Notify supervisor of any schedule changes or absences as soon as they become known.
5. Using the donation center’s guidelines, decide on-site whether or not donations will be accepted and communicate this decision to the donor in a professional and courteous manner.
6. Issue donation receipts to donors.
7. Assist with receiving, processing, sorting and displaying donations.
8. Help maintain an organized and welcoming donation center.
9. Greet clients and donors with friendliness and exhibit excellent customer service skills.
10. Maintain confidentially of clients at all times.

SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT:
This volunteer opportunity is on-going. Schedule will be identified based on Center's needs and volunteer's availability.

TRAINING & ORIENTATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Complete a Donation Center Volunteer Application and Criminal History Check
