METRO Goodwill Youth Training Program is for youth ages 14-24 who are at-risk or have been involved in the juvenile justice system. We offer support services, mentoring, educational tutoring, special programs, and work experience to youth to help them achieve their highest potential.

A Passion Project Leader is a volunteer who will work with youth aged 14-24 leading a four-week curriculum on a passion they'd like to share. The classes will meet 1 hour a week, on a set day for those four weeks, and can be held either at the Center or in the community (for example, if gardening is your passion, we can bring the youth to your garden). Leaders will be responsible for creating hands-on activities and leading classes for 10-20 youth, though Goodwill staff will also always be present for the classes. Projects should not be directly academic in nature, but should provide a culturally relevant and creative experience for youth. Subjects we're looking for include art, creative writing, building, hobby crafts, athletics, hiking, gardening, etc. This position is ideal for a volunteer looking to increase their curriculum-writing and facilitation skills, and one who wants to see a longer term impact manifest in youth's lives.

Before beginning, volunteer Tutors and Leaders need to fill out an application, including a brief resume. Tutors and Leaders will receive in-person training at the Center before beginning to work with youth, which can count as volunteer / internship hours.
