The Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida is holding a 5 day bike camp August 1-5, 2016 from 8:15-5:00 (M-F). (Sunday, July 31 is a 2 hour orientation in the afternoon time TBD for parents and volunteers.) The camp will teach individuals with Down syndrome and other unique abilities to ride a conventional two wheel bicycle and become independent riders. About 80% of the participants are able to ride independently in less than a week’s time. You can help a child (or adult) to achieve this major milestone. You will need to be able to run/walk for 75 minutes as the participant becomes more competent in his/her skills. This has been one of our volunteers' favorite events as they experience the joy of watching someone learn to ride a bike and open up new worlds for themselves.
