Overview:
We are currently The Virtual Database Assistant will help update the current local foods directory. If you have an interest in local agriculture and would like to interact with farmers and local food businesses, this is a great opportunity for you!
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete required training and orientation.
- Contact local businesses, farms and organization to update current database.
- Input new contacts into current database.
- Abide by confidentiality practices prescribed by agency.
- Strong commitment to quality and integrity.
- Must have some knowledge of Google applications, specifically Google Hangout and Google Drive (or a strong willingness to learn)
- Friendly and welcoming
- Commitment to confidentiality
- Ability to fulfill deadlines as established

Description
The Mecklenburg County Extension Services, a division of Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation, provides educational programming and support in the following focus areas:
- 4-H Youth Development - provides youth development via school enrichment, afterschool, clubs, and summer programs.
- Horticulture - provides technical support for lawn and garden concerns via the extension agent and the Extension Master Gardners' volunteer program
- Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) - assists limited resource audiences in acquiring the knowledge and changed behavior necessary for nutritionally sounds diets, and to contribute to the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being
- Family and Consumer Sciences - provides science-based education in the areas of local foods, food safety and home food preservation via workshops and trainings.
