Volunteers of America Texas is in search of a passionate and creative leader to provide cooking classes for our clients at Dalgreen, a group home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
The cooking teacher will have the opportunity to teach basic cooking skills as well as show how to make simple recipes to the residents. The individual teaching the class will also be asked to share the purpose of cooking utensils and illustrate how to use them. With volunteers serving in this capacity, it allows the individuals participating in the class to socialize with a new face and remain mentally engaged. They will also have the opportunity to learn a new life skill that helps in establishing a greater sense of independence.
Volunteers with previous experience with cooking, interest in teaching, and desire to work with disabled adults are welcome to apply. Previous experience teaching is helpful, but not required.
If you are interested, please contact Volunteer Services at volunteer@voatx.org.
