ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Greater Carolinas Chapter

The Public Policy Intern works directly with the Sr. Director of Southeast Region Advocacy for the National MS Society and Chapter Advocacy Staff. Responsibilities: Attend pertinent committee meetings, public hearings, and coalition meetings as assigned; Track, analyze and report on SC state policy and budget to Government Relations Committee; Arrange meetings with legislators and staff members - GRC, chapter staff, clients; Assist in coordinating response campaign; Highlight identified policy priorities for posting to MS Policy Blog; Arrange Governmental Relations conference calls and meetings; Assist in developing agenda; Prepare minutes; Interact with local advocacy leaders to develop collaborative relationships; Draft articles on public policy for MS Connection newsletter; Assist in scheduling local advocacy contacts with local and state representatives; Recruit advocacy volunteers. Unpaid internship. Full time or part-time within regular business hours (9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday). MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. The Greater Carolinas Chapter, with offices located in Raleigh, Greensboro, and Charlotte, NC, serves over 18,000 individuals affected by MS in North and South Carolina. We help each person address the challenges of living with MS and raise funds for MS research. Our vision is a World Free of MS!
