Alive Hospice has partnered with Pet Peace of Mind to start a program in which volunteers assist hospice patients with the care of their pet. As you can imagine, caring for yourself, or a loved one who is terminally ill, can be exhausting, thus, walking the dog, cleaning a litter box or visitng the groomer are tasks that get pushed by the wayside. That's why volunteers are needed to perform these important duties for our patients' beloved pets. Pets are a significant source of support and unconditional love. Studies show that their companionship can be a powerful coping mechanism for patients and their caregivers. If you have a love of animals and the time to provide care to our patients' pets, you can make a difference here! Please give us a call! This is a great volunteer opportunity for youth, or a parent/child team.
