ORGANIZATION: Legacy Hospice of the West

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Becoming a hospice volunteer gives you the opportunity to participate in the re-affirmation of life and its experiences for persons in the final stages of life. Volunteers may even find that showing kindness and compassion for others is therapeutic for themselves. We have several different types of volunteers at Legacy Hospice. Direct Care Volunteers do things directly with the patient and caregiver, including reading, writing down memories, and other activities. Indirect Volunteers help with clerical work in the office. Bereavement Volunteers help families and loved ones on their journey through the grieving process. Veteran to Veteran Volunteers are military veterans who we train to provide companionship to our terminally ill military veterans. Our volunteers are an integral part of our mission to provide quality care to patients and their families in the comfort of their own home.

Hospice affirms life and focuses on the quality of life. Hospice recognizes dying as a normal process whether or not resulting from disease. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death.
